Proposed Shandon Architectural Conservation Area (ACA)
By popular vote at our AGM 2018, it was agreed to pursue information on what ACA would mean for residents and the Shandon area alike. This is something we think would be of advantage to the area to conserve the uniqueness of the area. However, the main thing we are discovering is that this will take quite some time to process an application, from the submission process to the granting of ACA status could take 10 years.
The SRA submitted a request to DCC in 2020 to consider the Shandon area for Architectural Conservation Area (ACA) status. We have been informed that they will consider this request as part of their work towards the next City Development Plan 2022-2028.
