Participation in Research Project: Do You Want to Test Your Tap Water for Lead?

A message from our wonderful friends at Phibsboro’ Village Tidy Towns – if you want to participate we would urge you to move quickly & contact them directly please.

UCD School of Geography and Dundalk Institute of Technology are undertaking a  research project to investigate lead in domestic drinking water within Dublin city with the aim of improving the public understanding of home health. The research is entitled ‘AMEND Unleading Water: Community Science and Environmental Justice for Health Irish Homes .’ (Some of you attended a workshop in June in McGeough’s pub about this research project and will already have received this information.)

How it works:

  1. We deliver the sample bottles to you over the next few days.
  2. Then, on the morning of the 6th of March, we ask if you could take a sample of the very first water out of the tap (see attached leaflet for why this is very important)
  3. Then you drop your water sample to the Spark Offices in Phibsboro Tower between 9am and 11.45am.
  4. UCD collect the samples at noon sharp and deliver back a report of the lead levels

There will be a drop box inside the Spark’s glass door entrance, located on the car park floor above Tesco Express.

If you can drop your filled sample bottle in the time frame required on the 6th of March, please let us know your address by return email and we can deliver the empty sample bottles to your home.

Could you please let us know by tomorrow  if you want to participate and we can organise dropping off the sample bottles to you.
